The goal of this blog is simple: to stop the band Peter Bjorn and John from getting any more popular than they already are. Just to be clear, I accept that Peter Bjorn and John are already somewhat popular, and that there can be no undoing this. I merely want for the indie-rock community to take matters into its own hands to ensure that this popularity, at least here in the United States, goes no further.
I will try to lay out the reasons why in a few introductory posts. My next post will concentrate on the question: "Who are Peter Bjorn and John?" The following post will tackle the issue of "Why do Peter Bjorn and John Need to be Stopped?" Later posts will elaborate on this point, and also lay out what you, the reader, can do to help the cause.
Those of you who have ideas about how to help the campaign should email me.

If you don't like the band simply don't listen to them. It makes me pity you in the fact that you have become physically weak because a band is succeeding in the music world. Suck it up and pop in some toons you like. It will be ok I promise.

They actually aren't that bad of a band, and don't take it personally that they lip synch. Most American bands do it as well, so basically you are simply stereotyping against swedish indie/rock bands.

I stumbled on this blog by doing a search to find out some info on the band. I've only heard the catchy song "Young Folks" and was curious because their sound reminds me of some music I'd heard years ago. I'm a 35-year-old male.
First off, the goal of this blog is a poor waste of energy, much like writing this comment. In essence, as I understand the goal here, the band Peter Bjorn and John must be "stopped" from becoming more popular. Why is this an issue? Why is it relevant? Who judges what should be popular and unpopular? And why is popularity even an issue?
I ask these questions because I do not have cable and I do not read music magazines. I listen to music and if I like it, then I do. A band, album, or song becomes popular because of many reasons, and this is one of them. To stop a group because they are popular is as silly a notion as liking a group because they are popular or the inverse of disliking a group because it is popular (which is what I think the idea of this blog is trying to espouse).
I teach people every day to look outside the box. This blog is one such box. While there are times when we should criticize popularity because it interferes with the original function (e.g., politics and religion), it would best be served in regard to art to teach others to look beyond popularity (and unpopularity) and find work that speaks to each person.
I suspect there will be a slew of blogs and movements politicizing music much like this one in the future. There will be folks who echo Orwell's Big Brother in trying to police the language of what genres should or should not be by using doubleplus ungood newspeak. Even this approach may become popular. Still, each person will want to exercise their Free Will and look beyond such nonsensically politically charged fervor.
Now, if this is satire, it's a whole different story....
